L -22 Social

Changes

 Social change is a global activity.

 The change that occurs in the social structure and


the social institutions is known as social change.
 Change that occurs in the cultural matters is
cultural change while the changes occurring in the
society is called social change.
People violate the law mainly:
(i) Lack of awareness (due to low
literacy rate)
(ii) Ignorance towards law.
 The necessity to know law:

(i) If we know the law, we can avoid breaking the


law.
(ii) We can use the rights well if we know about the
law and the constitution.
(iii) We can fight in court against exploitation and
injustice.
(iv) We can perform our duty better to the society and
state.
 Special facilities available for the all-round
development of the citizens are called
“rights”.
Those conditions without which an
individual cannot develop fully are
generally called “rights”.
 As a responsible citizen of a civilized
society, we must have the knowledge of
our rights and the laws regulating our
behaviour.
 Right to Equality.
 Right to Freedom.
 Right to Protection against Exploitation.
 Right to Religious Freedom.
 Cultural and Educational Rights.
 Right to Constitutional Remedies.
 Citizens are given the fundamental right
to protect their rights. This right is known
as the right to constitutional means.
 It is the duty of the judiciary to
safeguard the rights of a citizens.
 If fundamental right is violated, the
citizen can go to the high court or the
Supreme court.
 Children are the least protected section in our
country.
 The progress of any nation depends on the
overall progress of children living in it.
 It is the for this reason that we consider children
as a national property.
 We should give priority to the work of bringing up
the children properly and develop their physical
and mental abilities to make them healthy
&responsible citizens.
 The United Nations has proclaimed the rights of
children with regard to their development and
welfare. The following are included as Rights of a
Child:
(i) Birth-right to live a life without any
discrimination of sex, colour, gender, language,
religion or nationality.
(ii) It is the right of the child to get proper
upbringing by the parents. Any child cannot be
separated from his parents without any special
reason.
(iii) Every child has a right to education so that it
can develop its personality.
(iv) Every child has a right to a healthy life. The child has a
right to live life merrily by participating in games &
entertainment.
(v) Every child has a right to conserve its culture and live
among its religious community.
(vi) The child has a right to express itself in its own way
and to establish association or to have the membership
of any such association for instance, "Child
Parliament.”
(vii) Every child has a right to protect itself against any
physical or mental torture, exploitation, or violence.
(viii) The child has a right to obtain social security and
proper standard of living for its physical, mental, moral
and social development.
 The constitution of India has made many
important provisions for the protection and
development of children. These provisions are as
follows :

(i) No child below 14 years will be employed in a


factory or for any hazardous work.
(ii) Children should not deprived of moral
protection and physical facilities & to protect them
from exploitation.
(iii) State governments to provide free education
to the children of age 6 to 14 years.
