INTRODUCTION

•Pressure
  - the amount of force that is applied
to an area where the force is distributed.
Unit of pressure is the pascal (Pa) which
translates to newtons per square meter.
Pressure formula:

where: F – force,
S – area.

CLASSIFICATION OF PRESSURE

11/05/2021 403047- Chapter 6: Measurement of Pressure 6

CLASSIFICATION OF PRESSURE

Absolute pressure is the difference the

pressure at a given point and the absolute
zero of pressure or perfect vacuum
Gage pressure is a measure of the
difference between the absolute pressure
and the local atmospheric pressure.
Differential pressure is a measure of
unknown pressure with reference to another
unknown pressure.

CLASSIFICATION OF
MEASUREMENT OF PRESSURE

The most common pressure-measuring system

as follows:
1. Gravitational type
2. Eleastic type
3. Piezoelectric
4. Capacitive

MANOMETERS

•Piezometer
  is a simple
manometer.
Pressure is defined by:

where
w - specific weight of the
fluid
h - height of column of
fluid of specific gravity s2

h1 - height of column of
manometer liquid of specific gravity
s1,
h2 - height of column of fluid of
specific gravity s2,
w - specific weight of the fluid.
