 Stuctural Engineering
• Engineers are trained to design the “bones and muscles” that create the f
orm and shape of man-made structures. They undertsand and calculate s
tability, strength, rigidity and earthquake-susceptibility of built structures fo
r buildings and nonbuildings stuctures.
 Geotechnical Engineering
• A branch of civil engineering that involves natural materials found close to
the surface of the earth. They use the application of the principles of soil
mechanics and rock mechanics to the design of faudations.
