This document discusses network addresses and provides details on IP addresses, including the differences between IPv4 and IPv6. It explains that a network address uniquely identifies each node on a network and is made up of numbers in dotted decimal format. It also defines gateway and subnet masks, noting that gateways provide access points to networks and subnet masks are used to assign logical networks within networks.

* Understand what Network (IP) Address is; * Differentiate IPv4 and IPv6; and * Determine the details necessary t connect into a network. NETWORK ADDRESS – serves as a unique identifiers assigned to each node on a network. When setup correctly, computers can network and talk to each other and share information. NETWORK IP ADDRESS – is a set of numbers called “octets” that identifies any network device. -> For easier readability, write it in dotted decimal. e.g. 192.168.1.1 -> Each octet in the series is a decimal value of 8 bits of binary number or 1 byte. Each octet have a value range 0-255 only. e.g. 00000000 = 0 11111111 = 255 IPv4 Address(used 32bit) / IPv6 (used 128bit) – is the specific version or type of IP Address.
Gateway -> is a node that serves as the access point on a
network – typically router.
SUBNET MASKS -> are used to set or assign a logical network
