STUDY OF DEMAND

RUST PREVENTIVE
PRODUCTS
DISSERTATION
INTRODUCTION
The topic that was taken up for detailed “Study of Demand of Rust Preventive
Products” In an economy of rapid change, continuous innovation is necessary. Most
companies rarely innovate, some innovate occasionally, and a few innovate
continuously.

Companies that fail to develop new products are putting themselves at risk. Their existing
products are vulnerable to changing customer needs and tastes, new technologies,
shortened product life cycles, and increased domestic and foreign competition. New tech
nologies are especially threatening. That’s why I have studied the subject new product
development.

OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY
 To study the demand for the rust preventive products in PUNE M.I.D.C.
 To study competitors products in the Market.
 To study price range and the packaging of the competitors products.
 To analyze the actual market demand for the rust preventive products.
 To make suggestions to the company whether to introduce the rust preventive
product in the market or not.
SCOPE OF THE STUDY
 Seek opportunities for growth
 Work with integrity and commitment
 Create everlasting business relationships
 Anticipate and manage change
 Create value for stakeholders
 Care for our environment and society
 Be exemplary

LIMITATIONS OF THE STUDY
 Lack of comparative data: For the present study comparative data given by the
industries may not have the proper information about the price and the quality of
the product.

 Many of the respondents were so busy that they hardly could give time to
complete the questionnaire and to discuss.

 Many respondents hesitated to express fully and truly their views.

METHODOLOGY
The study was conducted by using different techniques such as administering structured questionnaire,
interviewing the respondents, holding discussions with the respondents. Also data were collected from published
reports, magazines as well as using internet facility. The data so collected is tabulated and inferences are drawn
after analyzing the information.
 Methods of data collection: To achieve the above set objectives the following methodology is framed for
collecting data or information for the research process.
 Primary Data: Primary data was collected by preparing a questionnaire to be filled by the respondents. The
questionnaire included dichotomous & multiple choice questions, which are interrelated. This data was
collected by me through asking open ended questions to the manager/owners of 50 industries in the PUNE
M.I.D.C .
 Secondary Data: Secondary data are those that were already been used by some other
persons for their publications. Secondary data was collected from the journals, internet,
magazines and various reports available with the company officials. The internal data
what ever required was collected from respondents, for them the primary data was
opted.
 Sample size selection:
Sample sizes of 50 Industries were selected from the database allotted by the
company. Information was collected with the help of interviews as advised by the
relationship manager.
REVIEW OF LITERATURE
 The New Generation of Rust Preventative Products Based on Renewable Materials and Incorporating
Vapor Corrosion Inhibitors” Margarita Kharshan and Cliff Cracauer Cortec Corporation 4119 White
Bear Parkway St. Paul, MN 55110 Corrosion protection was always an important part of industrial
development. The use of oil- and solvent-based products in the preservation of metal has been a common
practice for over one hundred years. While these products may offer good corrosion protection, they often
contain hazardous ingredients and are non-degradable.
 “Corrosion Studies Of Selected Metals From Industrial Effluent In Pune Midc, India “ Lolage Y P , Pawar P
R , Yannawar V B And Bhosle A B Corrosion is one of the worst enemies of an industry like a cancer cell it
often slowly develops for many years and remains undetected. When observed it is too late to eliminate it and
mend the damages causes by it. Corrosion has impacts on the economy directly,in the form of replacement
costs of equipment and corroded structures and indirectly, as maintenance and operating cost due to failures
and shut down of equipment, structures, pipe lines and through contaminating the products and affecting the
safety and reliability.

 “Review on Corrosion Inhibitors for Oil and Gas Corrosion Issues Kausalya Tamalmani and Hazlina Husin
“* Department of Petroleum Engineering, Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, Bandar Seri Iskandar 32610,
Perak, Malaysia* Correspondence The pipeline system in the oil and gas industry is the heart for
transportation of crude and refined petroleum. Nevertheless, continuous exposure of the pipeline surfaces to
impurities and sources of corrosion such as sulfur and chromate is totally unavoidable. Vast employment of
commercial corrosion inhibitors to minimize the corrosion is being restrained due to toxicity towards the
environment.

industrial units during processing.
5. 50% of the industrial unit face rusting problem due to Humidity during storing boxes.
6. Due to rusting 86% industrial units lose their material up to 2%-5% of their total stock, 10% of industrial units lose their material up
to 3%, and remaining 4% of industrial units lose their material up to 5%-10% of their total stock.
7. All industrial units required this type of products.
8. 80% of industrial units already use this type of product and remaining 20% of industrial units are using other type product for rust
prevention.

10. 84% industrial units are not satisfied with their current product.
SUGGESTIONS
1. There is a chance to explore a new market in the PUNE MIDC, but for that the company should do full

marketing activity with the help of marketing mix like advertisement, giving product knowledge to the
industries by giving them samples to use and let them think about the product.
2. The price range of the products should be reasonable than that of others so that the industries can make
change over of the existing products to the company’s product.
3. The quality of the company’s product should be maintained, so that to enter into a new market it would be
easy for the marketing staff to prove the company’s products quality.
4. A strong distribution channel should be developed so that the distribution channel should look for the follow
up if necessary for any company.
5. A new enhanced packaging should be introduced in the market because there is lot of scope for the company’s
product and also the different packaging is demanded bythe some industries. Which is convenient for them.
