2.GENERAL DESCRIPTION ABOUT THE SITE
 client, contractor & consultant
consultant = E/C/D/S/C building & urban design& supervision work sector
 architect : Araya .G

 Site place
Adiss Ababa, Piyassa.
 Site selection

 Site description
o 800 million
o 7 blocks
o Expansion joint
o 3 years have passed to the deadline and 2 years have been added
Expansion joint
 Section of the company I have been working
 Preparation for different kind of works
 Carpenter’s team preparation
 Steel work’s team preparation
Bar bending = 20ø that is 11.05m long –body 10.97 & bent part .60m the
deducted dim is 4cm for each
 Masonry ‘s team preparation
3.Work task I have been executing
 Column: Column is the main structure in the building which transfers the
entire load in one floor to another from another to the foundation. It is a vertical
structure which is subjected to compression force.
Two types of shapes of column
 Rectangular
 circular
common dimension of column in site 60*60 cm & the largest one is 1.2*1.2 m
 Steel work : bars used in Staffa (stirrup), main bars & diamond bracing
 form work & reinforcement: steps done on this work
 Find the Center of the column
 Find the mafegna point
 Place the plywood and reinforcement (kerbate)
 place stanga and gendila
 masonry work:
 BEAM:
BEMA is a structural element that primarily resists loads applied laterally to
the beam’s axis. Its mode of deflection is primarily by bending
 Reinforcement & form work :
 Reinforcement : in site they used wooden structure
Two types of supports used as reinforcement
 Modeni
 chersti
 Form work :
 Placing the fonda on the reinforcement
 Finding the center of beam
 Finding the sponda points
 Steel work : bars used in beam main bars(top bar & bottom bar),
negative bar & Staffa
sagging (positive bending moment) & hogging(negative bending moment)
 Masonry work:
 SLAB: Slab is a horizontal structure that carries both dead load and live
load and transfer it to beam and beam to column.
 Reinforcement & form work:
 reinforcement: our site uses 3 types of reinforcement structure
1. wood structure
2. H frame
3. scaffolding
 Form work: placing plywood by taking the reference from beam sponda
and by checking the horizontal alignment.
 steel work: bars used in slab are top& bottom bars ,distribution bar
& z bar
middle of the slab is left with out any top bars unless the slab carries
a very large load.
 Masonry work:
Basement slab
 Partition work: our site uses HCB blocks for partition. There are
different dimension of HCB 20,15&10.
There are 2 phases in this work
 geyeda(setting out)
 Derdera
Different kinds of walls
 Round walls
 wide round walls
 Sharp round walls
 Double HCB
 False column
 Plastering: is a finishing work that helps to make the surface
flat and smooth
 kurkaro
 Gerfiya (1st coat)
 Lisena (2nd coat)

• kurkaro 1st cote plastering 2nd cote plastering

4.Benefits I gained from the internship
• the internship program is very help full and I gained
a lot if good thigs from it . the internship help me
improve many things such as:-
– theoretical knowledge
– Interpersonal communication skills
– team playing skill
–   leadership skill
5.Conclusion and recommendation
conclusion
• In my internship stayed I understood the following
 How to construct structural members like slab, beam, column
 Reinforcement for slab , beam ,column
 partition work
 plastering
 I have seen the problems appeared on the site and the solution
given by site engineers.
Recommendation
Recommendation for the hosted company
 Safety to the workers: In the company(construction site) most of the
workers don't have helmet, reflecting vest and safety shoes.
 Some times they use rusty steel bars. The strength will decrease so that
might impact the structure
 The company should cover the structure with plastic. To decrease the
risk of damage on the public.
 Don’t use the plywood for a long time.
