Analysing a photographer's work- Colin Winterbottom
Basic information
The name of the photographer is Colin Winterbottom and he is from DC in America. The name of the photo is "Elegant Corrosion" and the
series is called "close-up abstraction" and these photos were included in an excubition on July 1st through October 31st, 2012. The image is
about corrosion.
    Visual qualities
The photograph shows corrosion on a metal surface. The main focus is the corrosion and how the metal surface is starting to peel away
suggesting the metal surface has existed for a long time. I like how the metal is peeling away and how he has captured it; the image is sharp
suggesting it has been edited. They have used several composition styles such as, pattern, filling the frame, a shallow depth of field. Some
formal elements have been shown in this image, such as: focus/DOF, perspective, texture, pattern.

Camera settings
They have focused on the corroding metal, they have achieved this by using a shallow depth of field. I think have used a higher shutter
speed to accomplish a still image.
Relate to my work
I will be influenced by making sure, I have my shutter speed high, a shallow depth of field all to make the image crisp. When taking
my photo's, I will consider finding a more abstract subject to take an image of, like this image, most people would just walk past this piece of
corroding metal, what I'm basically saying is I should adapt the way I look at everyday objects.
