Narrative text is a story
with complication or

it tries to find the

Language Features

– Past tense (killed, drunk, etc) – Action verbs. A verb that shows an action.
(killed, dug, walked, etc)
– Adverb of time (Once upun a time, one
day, etc) – Direct speech. It is to make the story
lively. The direct speech uses present tense.
– Time conjunction (when, then, suddenly,
etc)

– Specific character. The character of the


story is specific, not general. (Cinderella,

Kinds of narrative text
1. Myth
 A traditional story accepted as history; a popular belief or traditional story of astensibly
historical events, especially explaining the early history of a group or people or about natural
events and facts.
2. Legends
 A story of uknown origin describing plausible but extraordinary past event
3. Fables
Fables are about animals that can talk and act like a man, or a plant or forces of nature such as
lightning or wind.
4. Fairy Tales
 Fairy tales are stories written specifically for children, often about magical characters such as
elves, fairies, goblins and ogres.
How to Teach Narrative Text
a. Pre Activity
- Greeting.
- Check Present list.
- Teacher tell about the indicators that will be reacheed.

b. Main Activity
- Teacher ask the students to listen to the tell short story.
- Teacher ask the students to identify the settings of the tell short story.
- Teacher ask the students to identify the main characters of the tell short story.
- Teacher ask the students to identify the plot of the tell short story.
- Teacher ask the students to identify the problem arises followed by other problems of the tell short
story.
- Teacher ask the students to identify the solution to the problem of the tell short story.

c. Post Activity
- Teacher ask the students to discuss making up a difference about climax and ending.
- Teacher gives chance to the students to ask their problems.
- Teacher gives homework to students for make write a short story.
