Fact Finding
Currently, close loop adaptive transmission mode (TM4) is implemented in the network.
Outer city

Outer city
TM6 is a special type of close loop spatial multiplexing (TM4). In contrast to TM4, only one layer is used. Analysis
Single layer is effective in low SINR, while dual layer give better throughput in high SINR

Pro : Throughput improved in low SINR


Inner city
Cons: Throughput possibly degraded in high SINR
Action Taken: Trial changes transmission mode from TM4 to TM6 on 19 Sites with creteria;
 Red area : Sites with low rank 2 rate (0-40%) in inner and outer city.
 Green area : Sites with high rank 2 rate (>40%) in inner and outer city.

TM4 TM4
 Supports spatial multiplexing with up to four layers
 UE report CQI, PMI & RI
 Better throughput in good radio condition (cell center UE)
 Better peak throughput because using multi layers (in good radio conditions))

TM6
TM6
 Single layer

 UE no need report RI, but feedback CQI & PMI only


 Better throughput in bad radio condition (cell edge UE)

 Peak throughput lower than TM4 because only used single layer
