HOME Assignment 1a

• Estimate the resistivity of a Si sample doped with phosphorus to a concentration

of 1015 cm-3 and boron to a concentration of 1017 cm-3. The electron mobility and
hole mobility are 700 cm2/Vs and 300 cm2/Vs, respectively.
• Find the resistivity of an intrinsic semiconductor with intrinsic concentration of
2.5 × 1019 per m3. The mobilities of electrons and holes are 0.40 m2/ V-s and
0.20 m2/ V-s.
• A 20 metre length of cable has a cross-sectional area of 1mm2 and a resistance of
5 ohms. Calculate the conductivity of the cable.
