of tobacco use in KSA
• Prevalence of tobacco use and daily cigarette consumption were associated with age, peer
pressure, and we noticed that married people, uneducated people, and those in certain
occupations (e.g. manual workers, businessmen, army officers, and office workers) have the

• Religion in Saudi Arabia constituted the main preventative factor among the non-smoking
population (42.3%).
• Notably, smoking is not socially acceptable in Saudi Arabia, especially among females.

• Smoking in Saudi Arabia is prohibited in all public places “Official figures” for the year 2012
indicate that there are about six million smokers in the Kingdom, including eight hundred
thousand students in middle and high schools. About 10% of smokers were women
• Male smokers aged 15 years and over reached 32.05% in the Tabuk region, while the lowest
percentage was in the Asir region and amounted to 11.08%, while the percentage in the rest
of the regions reached nearly 20% for the same age group.
