What is Child Friendly School
(CFS)?
A CFS promotes cooperative and active learning,
tolerance, caring, creativity, eliminates corporal
punishment and above all, the self esteem of
children. It provides education based on the
reality of the children's lives and works in close
consultation with parents. It works to prevent
bullying and other forms of violence in school
thus creating a Child Friendly Learning
Environment (CFLE).
WHAT IS CHILD FRIENDLY
SCHOOL (CFS)?
Child-friendly schools aim to develop a learning environment in
which children are motivated and able to learn. Staff members are
friendly and welcoming to children and attend to all their health and
safety needs. Teacher training is a central part of encouraging a child
friendly and inclusive school environment

Inclisive of all children means that everyone
should learn, grow, live And work with other
children of similar and diverse back grounds in
regular, mean stream environments , whether
these are schools work settings or community
sites. Inclusive brings together all children and
adults in order to recognize and appreciate the
unique gifts each individuals brings. they learn
acceptance of other people, and that each person
has unique abilities.

Personal hygiene means adaptation of neat and healthy habits of life,


like keeping ones body, neat and clean dress, to avoid spitting,
keeping surroundings clean. Clean the teeth regularly, cutting nails,
proper hair cutting,
GENDER SENSITIVITY
Proper awareness of different needs e.g. Provision of adequate and
separate toilets at schools.
Responsibilities of boys and girls e.g. wash club, descipiline,
morning assembliy duties, Boys Scouts, Girls Guides.

For child friendly school, The persons who
are implementing CFS program, the tools
they need to assess the value of what they
are doing in changing their schools, so that
they are more child friendly. Assessment
has two components:
