1. Literature exposes us to
other culture
 Literature teaches you about
the life, cultures and
experiences of people in other
parts of the world
2. To appreciate why
individuals are the way
they are
 In our own culture we find
an infinite variety of attitudes
and personalities, hatreds, and
prejudices, and assumptions.
3. Literature enhances our critical and
analytical thinking skills
♦ while reading a lot of information are being
process in our brain it opens up many different
perspectives for everybody to comprehend

machinations of history.
♦ History and literature are inextricably
intertwined. History is not just names and dates
and politics and wars and power. Whatever
happened in history is reflected in our literature.
