INTRODUCTION TO MANDYA

• Mandya is an administrative district of Karnataka, The district


Mandya was carved out of Mysore in the year 1939.
•  The headquarter of Mandya district is located 45 kilometres
(28 mi) from Mysore and 100 kms from
Kannada. Mandya Railways belongs to the south western
railways of india.
• Mandya is a gracious host and offers a spread that appeals to
every plate.Mandya's cuisine is characterised by distinct
textures,flavours and tastes .

SRI  RANGANATHASWAMY 
TEMPLE
The main reason for visiting Trichy is this 
complex temple, It’s around 14 km from the railway
 station. An auto rickshaw should cost around INR
 200 or you can take a local bus then, It’s a short 
walk from the main gate. The candy colored 
Carvings  of this mammoth structure stood tall 
over streets. From there it’s again a short walk to the
 main part  of the temple through more colourful gate 
tower things (officially known as gopurams). 
The massive towers (the largest being 72 metres are definitely the 
highlights, but there is a lot more  to see on the inside (although non
Hindus can’t access the inner sanctum).  Sri Ranganathaswamy 
Temple Complex is one of the largest in India and it takes a 
good hour or two to explore. are some nice carved pillars to see 
as well as various structures both small and large.
• Daulat Bagh is a place situated in the

DAULAT • of teakwood. It is buit in the year 1784 

BAGH • and is the one of most beautiful place of


Srirangapatna.Its architectural style is INDO-
SARACENIC. The palace has a rectangular
plan and is corridors along the four sides of
the platforms with wooden pillars at the edge
of the PLINTH.  The nearest railway station to
Daria Daulat Bagh is Mysore railway station.
Mysore Airport will be nearest for people
planning their visit via plane. The entire
Mysore city is well-connected by the local
buses, taxis and autos. Daria Daulat Bagh
welcomes thousands of visitors throughout
the year. The palace can be visited from 9 am
to 5 pm and no entry fee is charged here.
RANGANATHITTU
BIRDS SANCTUARY
• It is the largest bird sanctuary in the state,40 acres
in area and comprises six islet on the banks of the
kaveri river.
• This sanctuary is made in 1940 and attract about 3
lakh people each year. Ranganathittu bird
Sanctuary is easily accessible via road. As it is only
19 km away from Mysore, you can either hire a taxi
to the sanctuary or travel by buses.
In Srirangapatna you can hire an auto-rickshaw
and reach the bird sanctuary.   
• You can go for a boat ride at the river and th not
just with a breath-taking scenic  beauty but also
with glimpses of a wide variety of beautiful birds as
well. The best time to visit the sanctuary is between
the months of June and November as these are
nesting months for birds.
GUMBAZ  BURIAL CHAMBER

• The Gumbaz at Srirangapatna is a


Muslim mausoleum at the centre of a
landscaped garden, holding the graves of
Tipu Sultan,his father Hyder Ali,and
mother Fakhr-Un-Nisa.
•  It was built by Tippu Sultan to House the
•  graves of his parents in1784.Definitely a
must-do, to visit this burial place of Tipu
and his parents. Outside are many more
burials, including of his wife and son. It is
free to go in and wander around. Pictures
not allowed inside, but OK throughout the
grounds. Masjid-E-Aqsa is there facing the
Mausoleum. The place you can complete
the visit within 15 to 20 minutes. Inside
the gumbaz you can feel the breeze in Hot
seasons as well.
KARIGHATTA TEMPLE

• Karighata is a hill situated a few kilometers


outside the ‘island’ town of Srirangapatna. The
name Karighatta Translates to “Elephant hill”in
kanada.This Temple is devoted to Hindu God
Vishnu called “Karigirivasa” .This deity is
also referred to as “Lord Srinivasa” There is
a stern dress code for entering Karighatta Temple.
All devotees are expected to wear decent attire,
especially for females that covers them
appropriately. Also, no item made up of leather is
permitted inside the temple. Karighatta Temple is
a well-known temple and never fails to attract
the attention of devotees. This place is
visited throughout the year and witnesses a
huge footfall during the festival of
Vaikuntha Ekadashi. Nearest Railway
