Tales de Mileto (630-550 AC) was the first to discover
that if a piece of amber is rubbed, it attracts lighter
objects, and although he did not get to define that it was
due to the distribution of charges, he did believe that
the electricity resided on the rubbed object.

William Gilbert (1544-1603) study magnets to improve the

accuracy of compasses used in navigation, this work being
the main basis for the definition of the fundamentals of
electrostatics and magnetism.
 1752 Benjamin Franklin

He demonstrated the electrical nature of lightning. He

developed the theory that electricity is a fluid that exists in the
matter and its flow is due to the excess or defect of the same in
it. He invented the lightning rod.
  
1776 Charles August de Coulomb

He invented the torsion balance with which he

accurately measured the force between electric
charges.
 1800 Alejandro Volta

He built the first electrostatic cell and battery capable

of producing electric current.
1819 HANS CHRISTIAN OERSTED
HE WAS BORN IN 1777, HE DIED IN 1851. DISCOVER
ELECTROMAGNETISM.
1823 ANDRÉ-MARIE AMPÈRE
IN 1827 HE FORMULATED THE THEORY OF
ELECTROMAGNETISM. THE AMPERE IS NAMED
AFTER HIM.
