• The Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) was established on July 15,
1987 through executive Order No. 2 2 0 issued by President Corazon
Aquino.
• The regional center is the Chartered City of Baguio, offi cially known as
the Summer Ca pital of the Philippines

ABRA
• Abra is a landlocked province in the
Cordillera Administrative Region in
the Philippines.
• The province is bordered by Ilocos
Norte on the northwest, A payao on
the northeast, Kalinga on the mid-
east, Mountain Province on the
southeast, and Ilocos Sur on the
southwest.
APAYAO BENGUET

• Third highest mountain and

Luzon’s highest peak.
• The mountain hosts more than
five hundred plant species
• It is also known for its sea of
clouds.
Hanging Coffins at Echo Valley
• Known to be a unique burial ritual.
• Instead of being buried underground, the
MT. coffins are hung either inside the caves or
PROVINCE 3 on the face of the cliffs, near the hanging
coffins of their ancestors.

• In spite of the hardships in life some of our brethren in Abra are experiencing, they
still survive without sacrificing the values their ancestor taught them.
They used bamboo, a natural resource linked to their culture, for them to survive, to S
create music and to build a community.
These bamboos are not simply about the local products that some businessmen are
marketing for profit.
Bamboo is one big plant that has helped mold the culture of the people.

Say-Am Festival
• Say-am Festival of Apayao which is celebrated every February 14.It is in
celebration of the founding anniversary of the province and Isnag's grandest
feast or celebration. S
A feast featuring and ushering the traditional way of Isnag's thanksgiving to the
Higher Supreme unseen being called “ALAWAGAN” executed and commenced
through rituals spiced with pep songs, native chants and dances called “TALIP
and TAD-DO”

Imbayah Festival
• Imbayah is a cultural Festival which celebrates the well established conventions of the Ifugao
Indigenous tribes of Banaue, Philippines. It praises collect and fuses customs with thanksgiving to
mollify the profound world for arrangement of good reaps.

A local pig will be carried on a shaft and physically slaughtered inside the general population
square. Another imperative custom is the forfeit of a chicken which is killed, feathers evacuated
then cut open and examined – the condition of innards or bile reflecting either great or awful
omens.

Ullialim Festival
• The Ullalim is a cultural festival. It is the highlight of the
founding anniversary of the province. S
The festival showcases the life of the Kalingas through sports,
crafts, and indigenous food.

Lang-ay Festival
• Lang-ay Festival is the foremost festival of Mountain Province, celebrated
annually in Bontoc, the capital town. S
It draws not only thousands of local and foreign tourists but also expats who
trace their roots here. It has become the largest come-on of the said province,
showcasing the best of their cultural heritage.
