Did you know?
Learning.

Learning is the activity or process of gaining knowledge or skill by

studying, practicing, being taught, or experiencing something.
SLIDESMANIA
Did you know?
What happens during learning?

Did you know that during learning,

“Learning
our knowledge of the things around us is an
Experience”
expands. As we study, we gain new
knowledge that we can use or apply in
our daily lives.

“Learning without Reflection is a Waste.
Reflection without learning is
Dangerous.”

― Quote by Confucius
How does Learning change Brain and
Behavior?
Neuroplasticity or brain plasticity is the ability of the brain to
change its physical structure and function based on input from your
experiences, behaviors, emotions, and even thoughts. It used to be
believed that except for a few specific growth periods in childhood, the
brain was pretty much fixed. Now, we know that’s not true. Your brain is
capable of change until the day you die.

What is Metacognition?
 Metacognition (derived from the Greek root word "meta" meaning "beyond" and the
Latin word "cognoscere" meaning "getting to know") refers to a student’s ability to be
aware of what they are thinking about and choose a helpful thought process.

 Metacognition is, put simply, thinking about one’s thinking. More precisely, it refers to the
processes used to plan, monitor, and assess one’s understanding and performance.

 Metacognition includes a critical awareness of a) one’s thinking and learning and b)

oneself as a thinker and learner.

And the bigger the
better
SLIDESMANIA
Being willing to be independently minded. Thinking ahead
and working things out for yourself. Organising yourself and not
waiting to be told what to do.

Being determined to persist and stick with challenging

situations. Knowing how valuable it is to struggle and try hard.
Dealing positively with failure and using it as a learning
opportunity (F.A.I.L.).

In your studies and at work, you’re more than likely to have

several pieces of work to juggle at any one time. Break each
project down into the relevant tasks, work out how long you will
need to spend on each part, then allocate time in your planner in
order of priority.

Crippen, & Hartley,2006; Shunk,

1996).
