metal ions as KOH precipitates the metal
hydroxide and oxides in water.

Like water amphoteric bahavior is also shown in
liq. NH3.
Many metallic amides are amphoteic like many
oxides and hydroxides.

In Acids
All acids which are strong acids in water
react completely with NH3 (i.e. are
leveled) to form NH4+ ions
e.g.
HClO4
Acid strength equivalent to NH4+ ion: as H3O+
in water, now acidic character is due to NH4+
ions i.e. leveled
All acids which behave like weak acids in
water (with pKa =12) react completely with
NH3 and hence act as strong acids in NH3
