Semester-V Fall 2021
• Example:
• A group of n = 6 boys buys a box of baseball cards at a garage sale and
discovers that the box contains a total of 180 cards. If the boys divide
the cards equally among themselves, how many cards will each boy
get?
Solution
• The mean is usually the preferred measure of central tendency. Because the mean
uses every score in the distribution, it typically produces a good representative value.
• For these reasons, and others, the mean generally is considered to be the best of the
three measures of central tendency.
