RESEARCH PROJECT ON SPAN OF ATTENTION
1. AIM: To study the span of attention for different stimulus
2. INTRODUCTION- span of attention
3. MATERIAL REQUIRED: slides of picture, numbers and nonsense syllables.
4. DETAILS OF THE SUBJECT:
• AGE GROUP: 45-55
• NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS: 5
5. PROCEDURE: The subjects were made to sit comfortably with no distractions around and
the following instructions were given to them We are studying your span of attention. I Il show
you three slides with different things on each slide. Each slide will be shown only for 2 second
after which you need to report the items you saw. Pay attention to each slide
6. PRECAUTIONS:
• Rapport was formed with the subjects. It was made sure that the subject understood the
instructions.
• Care was taken that the subject was relaxed.
7. RESULTS. The scores were collected and analysed for different stimulus.
8. DISCUSSION: The results shows that the average span of attention for
• pictures was 5
• numbers was 7.8
• nonsense syllables was 5.2
Its seen that the average span of attention of the subjects was between 4-7 items.
9. CONCLUSION- Span of attention coincides with the magic number 7(+/-)2.
