Cause and effect

Introduction
Why did that happen? We ask this question every day at home, in
college, and on the job to understand and cope with things that happen
in our lives.
In a cause and effect essay, the writer develops the thesis through
cause and effect reasoning. That is, he or she analyzes and explains the
causes, the effects, or both the causes and the effects of a
phenomenon.
Strategies for Cause-Effect essays
Cause-effect thinking can move in two directions. First, it can explore
the effects of a particular event, action, or phenomenon – the logical
results, actual or anticipated. Second, it can trace backward from a
particular result to those forces that create the results – the causes.
Before writing a causal effect essay, we should do a preliminary work
which consists of applying the rhetorical situation to the topic; that is to
define the writer, subject, purpose, medium, context, audience. All this
information should be identified in the introduction.
The essay should be ended by a conclusion which consists of a brief
summary of all thesis discussed in the development.
