1. PHRASE 
- is a group of words acting as a single
part of speech and not containing both
a subject and a verb.

- does not express a complete thought.


CLAUSE 
- group of words containing a
subject and verb which forms part
of a sentence
- may or may not express a complete
thought

A. Independent clauses
- stand as sentences because
