Theme: Participation of communities in governance processes
AREAS : 1.Awareness about scope and mandate of district level government departments. 2.Smooth commination between communities and government representatives. 3.Participation of women. Reasons for contextualization / adaptation
• Rolling out CSC in Pakistan was a test case.
• Learnt from experiences of other countries. • Sensitive context – shrinking spaces for civils society. Challenges
• Over all delay in implementation.

• Enhanced role of Care and Partner staff as facilitators initially.
• CSC was not our only advocacy tool. • Initial orientations with Government on CSC. • Instead of ratings – criteria was used ( needs improvement / satisfactory /non satisfactory etc) • Results from communities were taken to Government before interface meetings. • Mock exercise with community facilitators. • Allies / like minded people from Government to intervene in case of any issue. • Extra engagements with women and girls to ensure their participation . • IT ESTABLISHED AN OVER ALL CUTLURE OF COMMUNTY INTERACTING WITH GOVT ON SAME
FOOTINGS . WOMEN QUESTIONING AND PARTICIPATING. • Operationalization of safe house for survivors of violence. • Release of funds by Provincial Govt for safe house. • Improved coordination between Govt and community. • Increased number of community members /women approaching to Govt – reported cases • Establishment of waiting area / community hall in SWD • Women launching FIRs • Representation of community( women) in formal structures of Govt ( formal/informal)– gender forum /DMC • Mass level awareness raising campaigns led by Govt on themes ( implementation of pro women laws/ women rights / economic empowerment of women ) • Revamping of police station in Umarkot with women and child cell and establishment of women complaint cell with woman in charge. • Advocacy of appointment of women staff in relevant department. • Taluka level regular meetings initiated by Social welfare Department.
