TASK-1
CHINA
SINGAPORE
China is the oldest continuous major world civilization, with
records dating back about 3,500 years. Successive dynasties
developed a system of bureaucratic control that gave the
agrarian-based Chinese an advantage over neighboring nomadic
and hill cultures. Chinese civilization was further strengthened by
the development of a Confucian state ideology and a common
written language that bridged the gaps among the country's
many local languages and dialects. Whenever China was
conquered by nomadic tribes, as it was by the Mongols in the
13th century, the conquerors sooner or later adopted the ways of
the "higher" Chinese civilization and staffed the bureaucracy with
Chinese.
The Great Wall of China is a series of stone and earthen
fortifications in northern China, built originally to protect the
northern borders of the Chinese Empire against intrusions by
various nomadic groups. Several walls have been built since the
5th century BC that are referred to collectively as the Great Wall,
which has been rebuilt and maintained from the 5th century BC
through the 16th century. One of the most famous is the wall built
between 220–206 BC by the first Emperor of China, Qin Shi Huang.
Little of that wall remains; the majority of the existing wall was
built during the Ming Dynasty.
Also called the "Forbidden City', it is
the palace of the former emperors of
the Ming and Qing dynasty. Entrance
fee is CNY60.

Singapore
During the 14th century, this small but
strategically-placed island had earned a new
name - "Singa Pura", or "Lion City". According
to legend, a visiting Sri Vijayan prince saw an
animal he mistook for a lion and Singapore's
modern day name was born. The British
provided the next notable chapter in the
Singapore story. During the 18th century,
they saw the need for a strategic "halfway
house" to refit, feed and protect the fleet of
their growing empire, as well as to forestall
any advances by the Dutch in the region.

The international air transport
association was founded by the airlines in
1945 to help meet the problems
anticipated in the expansion of civil air
services after the second world war .it is
the successor in functions to the previous
international air traffic association,
initiated at The Hague at the very dawn of
regular air transport in 1919.
It is a non-governmental organization and
draws its legal existence from a special act
of the Canadian parliament, given royal
assent in December 1945.IATA is voluntary,
non-exclusive, non political and
democratic. Membership is open to any
operating company, which has been
licensed to provide scheduled air service by
a government eligible for membership in
ICAO. Airlines engaged directly in
international operations are ACTIVE
MEMBERS, while those offering domestic
services are ASSOCIATE MEMBERS.

IATA’S contribution comes in only
after governments have completed

themselves and have authorized

from that point on, the activity of the

International civil organization(ICAO),
specialized technical agency or the united
nations (UN) created as per as permanent
body on April 4 1947, for the purpose of
promoting the safe and orderly development
of civil aviation through out the world. The
agency as been instrumental in improving
metrological services , air traffic control, air-
to- ground communications, search rescue
operations ,and other measures for public
health regulation relate to international air
travel.
The ICAO is composed of 185 member
nations that meet once every three years at
an assembly. Its executive body in the
interims is a council consisting of
representatives from 33 member nations
who are elected by the assembly on the
basis of their relative importance in
international air transport and of
geographical description.
 Ensure the safe and orderly growth to
international civil aviation through out the
world.
 Encourage the arts of the aircraft design and
operation for the peaceful purposes.
 Encourage the development of the railways ,
airports and navigation facilities for
international civil aviation association.
 Meets the needs of the people of the world
safe regular, efficient, economical air

 Prevent economic waste caused by
unreasonable competition.
 Ensure that the rights of the contracting

countries are full respected and that every

contracting country has a fair opportunity to
operate international airlines.
 Avoid discrimination between contracting

countries.
 Promote safety of in flight in international air

navigation.
 Promote generally the development of all

aspects of international civil aeronautics.

In Chicago in the year 1944,in an
international meeting ,between various
governments ,the Chicago convention on
international civil aviations concluded. In this
convention, nearly
all countries active in international air
transport, participated . The Chicago
convention governs relations between states
on technical as well as commercial subjects
connecting international air transport such
as:
 Flying over territory of contracting status (Air
services).
 Customs
 Rules of the air spread of disease
 Nationality of air craft
 Facilitation
 Documents
 international standards and practices
including those for carriage of dangerous
goods
 Statistics, finance, technical assistance etc
The board principle set forth in the Warsaw
convention is the carrier liable to the passenger. In
1929 , the Warsaw convention – an inter
governmental agreement concluded with several
amendments and conditions which includes the
liability of airlines for death or injury to passengers
for loss, damage or delay to baggage and cargo in
most international travel . In this convention a limit
per caps the amount for which the carrier is liable.
The Warsaw convention does not handle all legal
aspects of the relationships between the airlines
and the passenger’s , condition of contract which
is printed on the passengers tickets include liability
which is not handled by the convention. e
compensation for injury for death is also set
by the Warsaw convention at about on the
flight only outside the US. But for any flights
involving a stop in the US, an airline as a
maximum ability of $75000 including legal
cost. This figures represent a strict liability.
The claimant does not have to Negligence
by the airlines. Agreement such as the
Hague Protocol and the Montreal agreement
increase the maximum ability of airline.

The Montreal Convention, formally
the Convention for the Unification of Certain
Rules for International Carriage, is a treaty
adopted by a Diplomatic meeting
of ICAO member states in 1999. It amended
important provisions of the  Warsaw
convention's regime concerning
compensation for the victims of air
disasters.
The Convention re-establishes urgently
needed uniformity and predictability of rules
relating to the international carriage
of passengers, babbage and cargo. Whilst
maintaining the core provisions which have
successfully served the international air
transport community for several decades (i.e.
the Warsaw regime), the new convention
achieves the required modernization in a
number of key areas. It protects passengers
by introducing a two-tier liability system and
by facilitating the swift recovery of proven
damages without the need for lengthy
litigation.
