PROPERTIES

V - Borosilicate glass has a very low coefficient of thermal expansion

making it more resistant to thermal shock than any
other common glass.
W - fibre glass Electrical characteristics: Fiberglass is a good
electrical insulator even at low thickness.
Incombustibility: Since fiberglass is a mineral
material, it is naturally incombustible. It does not
propagate or support a flame. It does not emit
smoke or toxic products when exposed to heat.
X - Stainless steel Corrosion resistant ,high tensile strength, very
durable ,temperature resistant ,easy formability and
fabrication ,low-maintenance (long lasting)
Y - Brass More malleable than copper or zinc. Not as hard as
steel. Corrosion resistant. Exposure to ammonia may
produce stress cracking. Low melting point.
Z - Duralumin strong, light-weighted, and hard alloy of aluminum.
It is also reflective and impermeable. It is a
malleable metal and can be easily shaped. It is a very
good conductor of heat and electricity.
C (i) They adapt to environmental changes (indoor, outdoor, high or low brightness). They
provide greater comfort, since they reduce eyestrain and glare in the sun. They are available
for most prescriptions. They provide daily protection against harmful UV rays, by absorbing
100% of UVA and UVB rays.

• Changes optical properties when exposed to sunlight and heat

• The more sunlight, the darker the glass becomes and the less heat penetrates the room

• The photochromism effect is reversible, the glass returns to its original state

C (ii) Ag + e Ag
