ORIENTEERING
STANDARD
- the most common where
participants run or walk to each
control point. Length, of course,
varies from a few kilometers to
ten or more kilometers and
maybe in city streets or over
country sidetracks or countryside
where you make your way
through the natural bush
Score orienteering,
- are set up in a selected
area, with a point value
assigned to each
according to its distance
or difficulty of location.
Relay Orienteering 
– each team member does a
short course and tags the
next team member. This
may be used in combination
with project orienteering or
string orienteering.
Night Orienteering 
- is a variation of foot
orienteering or park and
street orienteering conducted
at night. Controls are marked
with reflective tape and
participants use headlamps or
flashlights to navigate their
way.
