Module 6 Lesson 2: ART PROMOTION &

PRESERVATION

This lesson is all about the promotion of Art forms in the


region. As an artist, it is not enough to produce art but it should be
promoted & preserved as well. This is to showcase artist creativity beyond
imagination. Beginner artist must set an objective or purpose for
promotion. If the purpose is to build strong reputation and validation from
the public viewers, feedback is very important for market acceptability.
After having been validated and accepted, you may proceed to a city,
regional or even national presentation of masterpieces.
1. Discuss the art promotion and preservation.
2.Produce creative visual artworks that demonstrate
innovation in concepts and designs.
3. Identify various local agencies that promote and
preserve Philippine arts in different regions
Activity 1 Picture Analysis
Direction: Analyze the picture, then answer the following
questions inn a sheet of paper.

1. Describes the scenario in the picture

2. What do you feel upon looking at the picture?

3. How will you be able to help the man in the picture?

NATIONAL COMMISSION FOR
CULTURE AND THE ARTS

• The NCCA is the country’s overall policy making body,


coordinating, and grants giving agency for the
preservation, development and promotion of Philippine
arts and culture.
• It serves as the state’s initiative to promote and develop
art and culture awareness in the country.
There are 6 arts and cultural government agencies under
NCCA.
CULTURAL CENTER OF THE
PHILIPPINES (CCP)

• For almost 50 years, CCP has been serving as the premier


venue in the Philippines for culture and the arts.
• It has hosted numerous shows and exhibitions on both
performance and visual arts.
• It also responsible for bringing together the different arts
from various regions.
NATIONAL HISTORICAL COMMISSION
OF THE PHILIPPINES (NHCP)

• It was created with a vision of “ a Filipino society with citizens informed of


their history, who love their country and are proud of their cultural
heritage.”
• Promotes “Philippine history and cultural heritage through research,
dissemination, conservation and sites management.
• Through the efforts of NHCP, Filipino may have “awareness and
appreciation of the noble deeds and ideals of our heroes and other illustrious
Filipinos, to instill pride in the Filipino race and to rekindle the Filipino
spirit through the lessons of history.”
• History makes the citizens aware and appreciative of the country’s struggles
and triumphs.
NATIONAL MUSEUM OF THE PHILIPPINES

• The country’s repository of archaeological artifacts, national


treasures and rare specimens found and produced in the country.
• The main task of this institution is to solicit, document, preserve,
exhibit and promote the natural and artificial wonders of the
Philippines.

SPOLIARIUM – the most valuable artwork housed in the National


Museum.
- the largest painting in the Philippines.
- the winning masterpiece at the Exposition de Bellas Artes in Madrid,
Spain in 1884.

NATIONAL LIBRARY OF THE PHILIPPINES

-Was then called the American Circulating Library to serve as “memorial to


American servicemen who died in the Philippine soil”.

-Is home to rare books and documents such as Acta de la Proclamacion de la


Independencia del Pueblo Filipino and the manuscript of the trial of Andres
Bonifacio.

- Providing access to the resources for our people’s intellectual growth,


citizenship building, lifelong learning and enlightenment.
NATIONAL ARCHIVES OF THE PHILIPPINES

-Goes back to the Treaty of Paris in 1898 which stipulated the handover or
cession of documents from Spanish to American authorities and provided
for the preservation of documents.

-Guardian to over 400 documents from the Spanish era dating 1552 – 1900
and various records from the American period to the Republic.
COMMISSION ON THE FILIPINO LANGUAGE
(KOMISYON SA WIKANG FILIPINO (KWF)

-Was created via Republic Act No. 7104: Congress shall establish a national
language commission composed of representatives of various regions and
disciplines which shall undertake, coordinate and promote researches for the
development, propagation and preservation of Filipino and other Philippine
languages.”

-Has annually given the Talaang Ginto: Makata ng Taon for Filipino poetry,
Aklat ng Bayan and other grants or programs on fundings, awards and
projects.
There are the best strategies to promote artwork:
1. Join an art competition. This is the most effective way to gain exposure. In
fact, art competition is known for discovering talents showcasing note worthy
product of art. It would also be the commencement of their career as an artist.
2. Social media is most powerful tool for promotion of art ( facebook,
Instagram,etc)
3. Join art organizations; organization of artists in the city, province or in the
community.
4. Getting involved in community activities, they can help promote the artwork.
5. Look for promotional galleries. City tourism gallery is one of the beautiful
venues for display.
Develop an artist portfolio. It contains artwork of different styles, genre,
subjects, and medium used
Activity 2:

Directions: Take pictures of artist masterpieces in different art


forms in your community. Organize the collected pictures in a
portfolio. Write a short literature of the artist, medium used in the
artwork, techniques, and styles with at least 20 pictures in a
portfolio. Be creative in the presentation.
