ABOUT COMPANY- POWERGRID

• Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID), is an Indian


state-owned electric utility company.
• POWERGRID transmits about 50% of the total power generated in India on
its transmission network.
• The company was established with the responsibility of planning, executing,
owning, operating and maintaining the high voltage transmission systems in
the country.
• Net worth – Rs. 64439.69 Cr.
• Nature of business- Transmission , Consultancy, Telecom
Objectives
• To study the significant relationship between Emotional Intelligence
and Quality of Work Life.
• To study the level of emotional intelligence among employees.
• To study the level of quality of work life among employees.
• To determine the relation between emotional intelligence and quality
of work life among employees
• To identify the intermediating elements that impact both Emotional
Intelligence (EI) and quality of working life (QWL).
BI Project Work
• Emotional Intelligence (EQ) means controlling one’s own emotions and
handling other people’s opinion.
• It is the ability to identify, use, understand, and control emotions in good
ways in order to reduce stress, communicate effectively, connect with
others, overcome problems, and diffuse disputes.
• Emotional intelligence enhance professional communication,
management, problem-solving, and relationships.
• QWL may be defined as the degree to which a work can meet the needs of
an individual employee and create a sense of satisfaction within him/her.
• Emotional Intelligence has been shown to improve an employee's Quality
of Work Life by assisting them in many areas, including being less
impulsive and controlling their temper better.
BI Project Work
• The current study is descriptive correlative survey method. In this method,
the employees’ current Emotional Intelligence and Quality of Work Life of
them have been investigated.

• The statistical sample of this study is 70 was selected by who were selected
using a cluster method of sampling.

• Data were collected by a closed questionnaire containing 31 number of


statements prepared with an answer option using a variable measurement
scale.
• Emotional Intelligence questionnaire includes 21 questions, ranging
from "very often "to "not at all" base on the 5 levels of Likert.

• This questionnaire to compare the employees’ Quality of Work Life.


Containing 9 statements, either rated within a five-degree Likert range
or optional system.

• In order to examine the hypothesis of study, the Pearson correlation of


coefficient and t- test were used.

The actual correlation coefficient (α) is 0.781 and it tells the strength of the linear relationship between our variables Emotional

Intelligence and Quality if Work life and we can see 0.781 is a high strength positive correlation because this value is positive.

The significance value (p) in table is 0.019. We will compare this to our level of significance level, i.e., 0.05

p=0.019 < 0.05

Means that our correlation is statistically significant.

Conclusion And Learning
• A person with high emotional intelligence can give better performance in
the organization and vice versa.
• This study demonstrates that majority of the employees have a high level of
emotional intelligence and are having a quite good quality of work life.
• The result of test perform through Pearson correlation of coefficient showed
that there was a significant relationship between the quality of work life and
Emotional intelligence of Employees performance.
• The test performed through T-Test studied the significant difference in mean
of EQ of females and males.
 More than 80% of the employees have rated themselves with 4
(Often) or 5 (Very often) in the dimensions of the emotional
intelligence. 
 62.9% of employees say the company’s environment has high
influence on their performance and 25.7% say it is moderate.
 95.8% of the population say they are satisfied with the working
conditions provided by the company.
 EQ and QWL are important for individual to better perform in the
organization and also to meet personal objectives.
