Ozone layer

Impact on the world

What is the ozone
layer?
This is the air layer of the earth, consisting of special
forms of oxygen, absorbing ultraviolet rays, it is located
very unevenly. Due to the strong action of the ultraviolet
radiation of the sun, the oxygen molecules of which the
air shell of the earth consists, has attached the third
oxygen atom to itself, this is how ozone is obtained, a
large amount of ozone in the atmosphere is a huge plus
for us.

There are two "types" of ozone

"Harmful" ozone
"Useful" ozone • Extremely dangerous for living organisms on
earth
• Often occurs after rain and thunderstorms, • Appeared under the influence of man
when ozone particles penetrate into the lower
atmosphere. • Adversely affects human and plant health

• It brings freshness to the atmosphere. • Exhaust gases and industrial emissions come
under the influence of rays of sunlight enter
into a photo-chemical reaction, resulting in
the formation of ground-level ozone, such
ozone is found in large cities.

Ozone holes
In 1985, the first ozone hole was discovered,
over 1000 km in diameter over Antarctica, by a
group of British scientists every August, then
scientists realized that chlorine destroys ozone.
Freons containing chlorine bromine are
massively used in refrigerators, air conditioners
and in numerous aerosol cans that have a
detrimental effect on the ozone layer, chlorine
emissions by millions of people every day
destroy the ozone layer.

Consequences of ozone holes

Depletion of the
ozone layer
increases the flow of
ultraviolet solar
radiation into ocean
waters, leading to
increased mortality
among marine
animals and plants.

Consequences of ozone
holes
The lack of ozone allows the sun's rays to warm up the
troposphere over Antarctica, causing atmospheric
cyclones to rain heavily in tropical areas, and the
traditionally arid subtropical zone is "pushed back" to the
south.

Thus, the impact of the ozone hole is manifested, for

example, in Australia, which in recent years has been
increasingly suffering from severe drought.
