AMERICAN

CIVILIZATION A
TOPICAL GUIDE
INTRODUCTION
• In setting to describe America and the Americans it would be
tempting to assume that the UNITED STATES is another country, and
try to approach it as such.
• America is a place with very history and many different cultures.
• It is a super power to be sure.
• Is almost everyone’s dream.
• The U.S. borders both the North Atlantic and North Pacific Oceans
and is bordered by Canada and Mexico. the climate of the U.S. also
varies depending on location. It is considered mostly temperate but is
tropical in Hawaii and Florida, arctic in Alaska.
• Yet many of us know little about the history and cultural changes that
led to the birth of this nation. We only know the bits and pieces that are
taught as we sit daydreaming in our fifth grade classroom. The Puritans,
the Pilgrims, Christopher Columbus, the Mayflower, we know about
these people and things, yet what aspects of their lives created the
change in America? The answer to this question can be found by
observing the changes in religion, women's role, and colonial law as it
brought about the change in the Puritan's cultural values,…they have
different religions which live in peace with each other
• America has changed a lot during these years.the role of a woman in
society, the right for them to vote to speak.
Education in the United States is provided in public, private, and home
schools.
The United States spends more per student on education than any
other country.
The American school year traditionally begins at the end of August or
early in September, after a traditional summer vacation or break.
Children customarily advance together from one grade to the next as a
single cohort or "class" upon reaching the end of each school year in
late May or early June.
• The people in America are given something that not everybody's given. A chance
to be successful and to survive, and most countries are not America still seems to
manage to be one of the world's best nations.
• People in every culture celebrate holidays. Although the word
"holiday" literally means "holy day," most American holidays are not
religious, but commemorative in nature and origin. Because the
nation is blessed with rich ethnic heritage it is possible to trace some
of the American holidays to diverse cultural sources and traditions,
but all holidays have taken on a distinctively American flavor.
• 1 Valentine’s day
• New Year
• Halloween etc….
HALLOWEEN
VALENTINE’S DAY
• Not all the Americans are free to celebrate
holidays all the times. Whether they must
work or not depends upon the importance
of holliday,…From what I learned is that
America is a great country with many
cultures ,religions ,different kind of
people.and full of history that make me
curious to investigate and to know more
about that place.
