Research Methodology
Research design:
Researcher conducted mixed methods (both qualitative and quantitative
method).

Sample size:
The sample size was 40 undergraduate IML students for quantitative meth
od and the sample size was 10 undergraduate students for qualitative met
hod.

Data collection tools:


A questionnaire survey was conducted via Google form for quantitative m
ethod. A focus group was conducted via Zoom app for qualitative method
.

Findings
Quantitative Data:
1 . Almost 92.5% students use social media for both learning and entert
aining purposes.

2 . 62.5% students use social media as second tutor


3 . 71% students use social media more than 3 hours in a day.

4 . Facebook and YouTube are the most common accessible platform w


here students get motivation for self directed learning

5 . 80% students stated that social media helps to become independent


learners .

Recommendations

1 . Academic learning should be integrated into social media, so t


hat the learning have been worked more fruitful and they have
a positive impression about social media .

2 . The basic rules of using social media should be taught by the te


achers and a course regarding social media should be designed
and applied for all the students.
