TYPES OF SPEECH

ACCORDING TO
PURPOSE
• Is it easy for you to speak in front of a crowd?
• What do you feel every time you stand in front?
• Do you like being the center of attention?
• Does speaking make you nervous?
• Why do you think we need to know the different
types of speeches?
Expository / Informative Speech

An Expository/Informative Speech provides

information about a specific subject to an audience. The
aim of an informative speech is to help your audience to
understand and to remember the information you are
presenting.
Demonstrative Speech
• Has many similarities in informative speech but it also teaches to do or
perform something.
• It instructs the audience on how to do something step by step.
• It demonstrates the process.
Persuasive Speech

It is a kind of speech in which the speaker has a goal

of convincing the audience to accept his or her point of
view. The speech is arranged in such a way as to
hopefully cause the audience to accept all or part of the
expressed view.
Entertainment Speech

The sole purpose is to have the audience enjoy the

presentation. To make the audience smile, relax, enjoy
and maybe even laugh their heads off. Of course,
although many – if not most – entertaining speeches are
funny, they do not need to include humor to be
entertaining. Dramas are entertaining but not funny,
right?
