ULTRAVIOLET RADIATION (UV)

Ultraviolet radiation is more popularly


known as UV, which was discovered
by German physicist Johann Wilhelm
Ritter.
UV lights, more popularly known as black
light.
These ray have three forms:

UVA ray (Long-wave light) – This is what we are exposed to on


our daily basis.
UVB ray (Shortwave light) – This ray can penetrate to our
atmosphere, it causes damage to the people expose to this ray.

UVC ray (Shortest of all UV rays) – It is the most destructive


form of UV rays but it is absorbed by the Earth’s atmosphere.
A major source of UV rays is the sun.

UV stimulates the production of vitamin D in the body.
