 • The Saudi Patient Safety Center
established in 2017, first of its kind
center in the whole region and
fulfillment one of the initiatives of the
National Transformation Vision for 2030.
The centers mandate is to galvanizing
healthcare regulators, payers, providers,
Saudi Patient patients, families and communities
around patient safety with the aim of
Safety Center providing healthcare services free from
harm. The Saudi Patient Safety Center is
acting as the main custodian of the
National Patient Safety Strategy with a
focus on giving a voice to the community
and healthcare providers.
About the NPS Award

• The Saudi Patient Safety Center (SPSC) has established the annual National Patient Safety
Award to recognize individuals (both healthcare providers and community members) and
organizations (both healthcare and community), who have helped bring Saudi healthcare
sector closer to the goal of zero patient harms.
• The National Patient Safety Award recognizes an individual, group or a program that has
demonstrated commitment to improving patient safety, quality of care, and increased
awareness among the public, thus effectively helped reduce errors in medicine.
• The National Patient Safety Award aims to transform Saudi Arabia vision to delivering high
quality care. It champions patient safety as the organizing principle of a healthcare system
which is truly efficient, effective and able to offer the best experience to patients and
caregivers. The National Patient Safety Award will serve as an essential national forum for
those at the forefront of safety, quality improvement and clinical excellence initiatives.
Eligible Applicants
Submission Requirements

• The following rules and regulations will be applied to all nominations to ensure the award
process is in place properly for all domains and categories:
• One nomination only would be accepted per domain, category and facility. Accordingly, the
participants can submit more than one nomination in case the domain and category are
different.
• The content that will be submitted must be original, and printed in a high resolution.
• If needed, accepted nominations might be asked to provide additional supporting materials
and documents.
• The decision of the panel of judges for the selected winner, is final and will not be subject
to further discussions and/or negotiation.
• All documents, materials and submissions would be the property of the national patient
safety award and will not be returned.
• The national patient safety award will be authorized to publish nominations and content
through media either within KSA or outside, including the sponsors’ websites.
 Nominees may be individuals, teams of individuals or
organizations within a hospital and/or in the community.

Nominees should demonstrate exceptional commitment to

improving the patient safety within an institution and/or in a
community organization.

Nominees should demonstrate outstanding leadership to the

goal of improving safety of patients, improving quality of care,
or reducing medical errors in the practice of medicine.
General
Criteria Nominees should demonstrate a commitment to
communication between and among health professionals, as
well as with patient and family as appropriate.

Nominees will be evaluated on their potential patient safety

contribution to both the institution and the healthcare
community as a whole.

High personal integrity and professional excellence will

exemplify the nominees.
