Tropical Rainforest

Alexa Roberts
General Description
Global Importance:

Tropical rainforests are very important to every part

of the world. They absorb twenty percent of the
world's carbon dioxide emissions as well as
producing about six percent of the worlds oxygen.

Comparisons to other Biomes:

Unlike the tropical rainforests, tundras are cold and

dry. There are also many trees and plant species in
tropical rainforests but tundras have very limited
plants.

Grasslands have very unreliable ecosystems. They

have less humidity than tropical rainforests and
fewer, shorter trees.
Map / Geographic Location
Geographic Location Map:

Explanation of Geographic Location:

MAP ● Tropical rainforests consist of lots rain and

sun therefore they are located mainly towards
the equator. It gets extremely hot here so
evaporation is very frequent. Because of the
frequency of it, rainfall happens all the time.
Abiotic Factors

Annual Temperatures: 68 degrees F to 77 degrees F

Precipitation: 79 to 394 in

Winds: 6.2 mph

Soils: Mostly Alfisols and Ultisols

Other Unique Biome Features: There are no seasons in tropical rainforests. The temperature stays consistent all
year long.

Environmental Concerns

Threats to this biome:

There are many threats to the tropical

rainforest. Some are man made and others are
just ecosystems being themselves. Wood is in
high demand when it comes to building. It is
used in the base structure as well as the house.
A big threat to tropical rainforests is the urgent
need for tropical woods. Climate change also
has changed species diversity. Invasive species
from not only the animal kingdom but of plants
is one of the biggest problems rainforests are
facing today.
