Patient T.U..21/F - She is a fall-case type of pt, so she is currently status post-op
case in total knee replacement surgery. Due to her condition, the patient is clearly
high risk for falls because she is a fall patient less than 5 days and, a bed-ridden
and post- op total knee replacement surgery which makes her prone in developing
serious complication post-op such as bleeding, compartment syndrome, and also
the development of pressure ulcers. So in which, the nurse in this scenario needs
to monitor signs of active bleeding, post-op pain, decrease of LOC, and also the
presence of pressure ulcer. Some interventions are frequent turning of the patient
every 2 hours to prevent bleeding, to promote comfort when eliminating by
changing of soiled materials often or as needed. Health teaching about the
promotion and importance of taking high protein, high fiber, and low-fat diet for
easy elimination and to promote muscle regeneration. Facilitating the
administration of PRN (as needed) pain medication prescribe by the HCP.
