Questions
QUESTION #1
Ana works as a buying agent for furniture. She has
also been invited to work as a selling agent for the
same products. Can Ana be a buying agent and
selling agent and charge her importer and exporter a
certain amount as commission? Explain your answer
SHORT SKIT
QUESTION #2
What is the mode of entry in
exporting that requires the least
resources? Justify your answer.
BUYING AGENT
• As indicated in the module, being
an agent takes the least resources
in terms of financial outlay and
investments of all the modes of
entry into exporting.
• In contrast to other modes of entry that involve expensive
capital, investments, technology, raw materials, a factory or
plant to manufacture, and many other things that are
required in a business, we may already engage in this type
of business with a telephone, fax machine, and a personal
computer. When compared to other modes of entry, both the
selling agent and the buying agent require limited resources;
however, the buying agent requires the least while the
selling agent requires second on the least resources.
• In exporting, the advantages are
fast entry and low risk while the
disadvantage are low control and
low local knowledge
