Globalization has led religion to spread across the world through various means such as conquest, colonization, and migration. The five largest religions in the world are Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, and Judaism, comprising over 80% of the global population. While globalization allows for greater religious diversity and contact between faiths, it can also result in religious conflicts and social changes that threaten traditional values, leading some to embrace religious fundamentalism.

Religion EDWARD B. AGRAVANTE, MM, MBA, JD The Globalization of Religion
Religion – is a collection of cultural systems, beliefs systems, and
world views that establish symbols that relate humanity to spiritual and to moral values. Religion has long existed in a worldwide context and it has been described as the original globalizer, because for centuries the major religions have spread across the world, through conquest, colonization and migration. The most known religions across the world 1. Christianity is an Abrahamic monotheistic religion based on the life and teachings of Jesus of Nazareth. Its adherents, known as Christians, 33% of total population. 2. Islam is an Abrahamic, monotheistic religion teaching that there is only one God, and that Muhammad is a messenger of God. It is the world's second-largest religion with over 1.9 billion followers or 24.4% of the world's population, commonly known as Muslims. 3. Hinduism is an Indian religion and dharma, or way of life, widely practiced in the Indian subcontinent and parts of Southeast Asia. 15% of total population. 4. Buddhism is the world's fourth-largest religion with over 520 million followers, or over 7% of the global population, known as Buddhists. Buddhism encompasses a variety of traditions, beliefs and spiritual practices largely based on original teachings attributed to the Buddha and resulting interpreted philosophies. 5. Judaism is the ethnic religion of the Jewish people, comprising the collective religious, cultural and legal tradition and civilization of the Jewish people. Judaism is considered by religious Jews to be the expression of the covenant that God established with the Children of Israel. Consequences of Globalization As societies and religions come into closer contact with one another, there is the potential for religious conflict and for religious diversity and change. When one society or state dominates another, people may use religion to explain and resist this domination. Cultural and social changes brought by globalization may threaten cherished values and lead some to turn to the certainties promised by fundamentalism. Religious ideas lead some people to act in new ways that encourage economic development in less developed countries. THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS!
