Mulch in Urban Gardening”
 STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
The use of plastic materials in agriculture such as inorganic mulch may cause
hazards in our environment. Corn cobs may increase the variety of organic
mulching ingredients available while decreasing their number in landfills.
Agricultural by-products such as corn cobs fills a lot of space in landfills.
Turning them into something useful will provide huge benefits not only to
farmers but to our environment as well.
 STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
Specifically, the researchers sought answers to the following questions :
1. What are the characteristics that make corn cobs a potential mulching ingredient
in urban gardening?

2. Is there a significant difference between the performance of corn cob mulch

compared to plastic mulch in terms of:
2.1. Soil moisture retention capacity
2.2. Weed growth suppression:
