CHEMICAL BONDING

Here is where your presentation begins

Chemical bonds

Chemical bonds are the connections between atoms in a molecule. These bonds include both
strong intramolecular interactions, such as covalent and ionic bonds.
Types of chemical bonding

Covalent Bonds
Ionic Bonds
A covalent bond involves the sharing of electrons
Ionic bonding involves a transfer of between two atoms.
electrons, so one atom gains an electron while
one atom loses an electron.
Are a class of chemical bonds where valence electrons

Polar and Nonpolar
Polar covalent bonds- a bond between elements where there is an unequal sharing of electrons.
(different electronegativity)
Electronegativity difference ≥0.5

Non polar covalent bonds-a bond between elements where there is an unequal sharing of electrons.
(same electronegativity)
Electronegativity difference<0.5
