ORIGIN OF THE CAR:
Driving can be exhausting. What with all the pressing on the gas pedal,
braking, and holding on to the steering wheel. Imagine taking the physical
aspect out of it and letting your mind do the driving.

German researchers have turned a Volkswagen Passat into the latest sci-fi
vehicle, equipping it with an electroencephalography system (designed for
gaming) so it can be controlled by a human brain.

Raul Rojas -- professor of artificial intelligence at the Free University of

Berlin -- said that “an intriguing question is how to ‘hybridize’ human and
machine

Rojas worked on EyeDriver, a car drivable by eye movements and in its

current state would be much too slow for real-time driving as it takes time
to sense the electromagnetic brainwaves. 3

ABSTRACT
 Brain controlled car will be a great help to the
physically disabled people

 These cars will rely on what the individual is

thinking and will not require any physical movement
of the individual

 The car has variety of sensors like video, weather

monitor , anti collision etc…

 It’s a great advance of technology which will make

the disabled, abled

INTRODUCTION
 The video and thermo gram analyzer continuously monitor activities
outside the car

 once the driver reaches near the car the security system of the car is
activated

 Images of the driver are previously fed in the data base of the computer
the images match with the data base entries then the security system
advances to the next stage

 Once the driver passes this stage the doors slides to the sides and a
ramp is lowered from its floor

 As soon as the driver is seated the EEG (electroencephalogram)
helmet, attached to the top of the seat , is lowered and suitably
placed on the driver’ head

 A wide screen of the computer is placed at an angle aesthetically

suitable to the driver

 For starting the car, the start button is clicked accordingly the
computer switches ON the circuit from the battery to the A.C
series induction motars

⌂ Data can be sent and analysed over a network or modem

⌂ It consists of a noise balancing amplifier that balances low noise

⌂ Also has a provision of full image capturing capacity

The biocontrol system comprises the following systems:

- Brain computer interface

- Automatic security system

- Automatic navigation system

o This brain computer interface will provide an intelligent

help and training especially for the non-expert user

o The teams doing research in this field have developed brain

controlled switch

 The main principle behind the mechanism is that the impulse of

the human brain can be tracked and even decoded

 The LF-ASD switch traces the motor neurons in the brain .when the
driver attempts to any physical movement it sends an impulse to the
motar neuron

 By decoding the message at the motar neuron we can obtain the

maximum accuracy

• As the eye moves , the cursor on screen also moves

• The sensors placed at the front and rear ends of the car, will send a live
feedback of the environment to the computer

• The steering wheel is turned through a specific angle by

electro mechanical actuators

¥ The EEG of the driver is monitored continuously when it

drops less than 4Hz then the driver is in an unstable state

¥ Then a message will be given to the driver for confirmation to

continue the drive

3. Automatic navigation system

¥ The computer automatically monitors every route of the car
and stores it in the data base

¥ The map database is analysed and the shortest route to the

destination
is choosen

Advantages
• Hardware costs are significantly lower than those of all other
techniques.
• EEG does not involve exposure to high-intensity (>1 Tesla)
magnetic fields, as in some of the other techniques
• Modern trends are implemented now-a-days.
• Car can be controlled with out any muscular motion.
• It is very useful for a patient who is suffering from
PARALYSIS.

Disadvantages
 EEG determines neural activity that occurs below the
upper layers of the brain (the cortex) very poorly.

Design of the control system is complicated.

Highly expensive.

• Thus we shall witness a revolutionary

change in the society where the demarcation
between the abled and disabled vanishes
