 General lighting – background or
ambient lighting. Produces enough
light to see everything in the room

 Natural light – sunlight through windows
or doors

 Artificial light – lamps & light fixtures


 Incandescent - warm & flattering
 Fluorescent – produce more light; last
longer; blueish cast
 Halogen – more efficient; whiter & more
intense light; become very hot
 Fiber optics – rope lighting; use for displays
 LED’s – Light emitting diode; lasts 10 times
as long as fluorescent bulbs
