Operation Best Practices

• Technical Front
• Combined HPH and Boiler cleanup to reduce startup time by approx. 6 hours.
• Common ACW makeup line up with CW blowdown to maintain forebay COC.
• Single screen in DCS to monitor all auto loops status.
• Boiler sample cooler blowdown since starting to get accurate parameters
saves approximately one hour of our start time.
• Boiler, LPH and HPH preservation during RSD of units so that clean-up
parameters can be achieved early, gain is in terms of lesser oil consumption
for hot cleanup and saving in startup time of approx. 5 hours.
• APC Reduction
• MRHS system charging from service air system, avoiding MRHS compressors running.
Approximate 1.5Mus of energy has been saved till now.
• Common ACW pumps suction provided through CW blow-down, thus avoiding Aux CT
fans running. Approx. 0.08 Mus of energy has been saved .
• Safety Front
• Use of WhatsApp for confirmation of correct isolation and normalization.
•  Use of arc flash suite and non-contact voltage detector for isolation/normalization of
electrical systems and verifying the same with selfies.
• Other
• Operators job rotation for skill development and flexibility in deputation.
• Thermal scanner and corona guard installation at CCR in view of pandemic.
