PRODUCTION OF AMMONIA NH3

By Haber's process
Introduction
1. Ammonia is one of the highly produced inorganic chemical world Wide

2. Ammonia is formed by the reaction of nitrogen N2 and Hydrogen H2

3. Process using Haber's Process
Raw Materials

4. Nitrogen and Hydrogen

Haber’s Process BFD
In this process following condition must be achieved

• Pressure 200 atm

• Temperature 400-450 oC
• Catalyst = Iron
• 1:3 N2:H2

Then following Rex take place

PRODUCTION OF NITRIC ACID HNO3

By ARC Process
Physical PROPERTIES
FOLLOWING ARE SOME PROPERTIES OF NITRIC ACID
• APPEARANCE: COLORLESS , YELLOW OR RED
• MELTING POINT : -42 OC
• BOILING POINT : 83 OC
• MOLAR MASS : 63
Chemical Properties : -
• Not stable
• Good Oxidizing Agent
• Reaction with metals
Process : ARC Process (Brik land
eyed’s)
Reactions:
N2 + O2 → 2NO H= +42 KJ/Mol

2NO + O2 → 2NO2 H=-26 kJ/Mol

4NO2 + 2H20 → 4HNO3 (G)
