MINI CONVEYOR BELT

 A conveyor belt is the carrying medium of a belt conveyor
system. A beltconveyor system is one of many types of
conveyor systems.
  A belt conveyor systemconsists of two or more pulleys, with an endless loop of carrying medium
the conveyorbelt that rotates about them.
  One or both of the pulleys are powered, moving the belt andthe material on the belt forward.
 The powered pulley is called the drive pulley while theunpowered pulley is called the i
dler pulley. There are two main industrial classes of beltconveyors.

  Those in general material handling such as those moving boxes along insidea factory a
nd bulk material handling such as those used to transport large volumes ofresources and
agricultural materials, such as grain, salt, coal, ore, sand, overburden
 Belt conveyors are universally used in industrial settings and in packaging andassembli
ng units.
 They can help in transportation of regular and irregularly shaped itemsfrom one point t
o another regardless of their weight.

 The items can travel in a horizontal, declined or inclined manner, depending on the type
 of belt conveyor used.

 They areplaced on the surface of the conveyor and transported from one point to the ot
her throughcontinuous, non-stop movement.
 The belt conveyor comprises of a belt that rests on top of a smooth metal bed orrollers.
When the distance is long, belt conveyors with rollers are the most suitable option,as th
e rollers help to reduce friction.

 It is not necessary for belt conveyors to be straight. They also can turn corners with a sp
ecial attachment. In such a case, the shape of the beltfor the corners will be concentric,
to facilitate smooth movement around the corners.
TYPES OF BELT CONVEYOR

 There are many different types of conveyors and companies should be able to findone to suit their needs. Some of th
e most common types are discussed below.
Roller bed conveyor
  In this type of belt conveyor, the surface for the beltcomprises of rollers. The rollers are selected based on the load o
f the items to betransported and the required speed of the belt.
Horizontal belt conveyor
 This type of belt conveyor consists of a centre drive, gear motor, and take-
up.Based on the drive of the conveyor, it can come with one or two pulleys at the end
Incline and Decline conveyor
 This type of conveyor is similar to a horizontal belt conveyor, but has an additionalcomponent. It comes with a singl
e or double nose over and sometimes it also has a feederportion.

TYPES OF BELT CONVEYOR

Brake and Meter belt conveyor
 This conveyor comprises of two parts. The brake belt is installed at the end of theconveyor and fac
ilitates accumulation of the items, while the meter belt is used to separateitems.
Metal Piano Hinge conveyor
 This is a hinged type belt conveyor made from steel. It is perfect for transportinghot and oily comp
onents from a punch press and forging machines
Wire Mesh belt conveyor
 As the name suggests, it has mesh that will facilitate air ventilation. Hence, thistype of belt convey
or is ideal for transporting hot and cold items or components thatcannot be handled using standard
duck or PVC belts.
Portable conveyor
 This conveyor comes with caster wheels allowing it to be rolled from one placeto another.
GENEVA MECHANISM

 The Geneva mechanism is one of the earliest of all intermittent motionmechanisms and
when input is in the form of continuous rotation, it is probably still themost commonly
used.
  Geneva is available in variety of sizes. They are cheaper than camsor star wheels and h
ave adequate to good performance characteristics, depending on loadfactors and other d
esign requirement.
CLASSIFICATION OF GENEVA MECHANISM

 The Geneva mechanisms are classified into three types. They are
 ExternalGeneva
 The external Geneva consists of a driver and driven. The driving wheel consistsof a pin
and a driven wheel consists of a slots. When the driver pin reaches into slot andthat ad
vances it by one step at a time
CLASSIFICATION OF GENEVA MECH
ANIM
 Internal Geneva
 The internal Geneva mechanism is a variant on the design. The axis of the drivewheel o
f the internal drive can have a bearing only on one side. The angle by which thedrive w
heel has to rotate to effect one step rotation of the driven wheel is always smallerthan 1
80 degrees in an external Geneva drive and always greater than 180 degrees in anintern
al one, where the switch time is therefore greater than the time the driven wheelstands s
till.
 Spherical Geneva
 In the type of mechanism, the Geneva cross is in spherical shape and cam driveare conn
ected in externally, which is extremely rare. The driver and driven wheel are onperpend
icular shafts. The duration dwell is exactly 180 degrees of driver rotation.
DESIGN OF MINI CONVEYOR MECHANISM
using Geneva Mechanism
 The geneva mechanism is a system to convert continuous
circular motion into fixed step circular motion.
 Geneva mechanism requires a rising circular connector
extending above the rotating disc to lock between slots in
the geneva wheel and drive it.
 So here we propose a conveyer belt that moves products
at regular time intervals, as needed by many automation
lines.
 Our system uses a motorized disc to drive the
geneva wheel. The geneva wheel is thus
driven at regular time intervals.

 The wheel is connected to rollers mounted

with conveyer belt.
 As the wheel rotates the belt also rotates at
fixed intervals. Thus we demonstrate the
design and fabrication of a mini conveyer belt
based system using geneva mechanism.

time.

 Conveyer Belt
Belt conveyors can be used to transport products in
a straight line or through changes in elevation or
direction.

It is used for fixing the frame .

For rotating the motor.
Working and Applications
Working Principle

• Whatever be the type of the conveyor belt, all do work with the same principle
of rotation.

• The basic principle of Geneva mechanism is such that it converts a continuous

circular motion into a fixed step circular motion at equal intervals and results in
the same displacement.

WORKING OF THE MECHANISM

• When the drive wheel is rotated, the extruded rod fits inside the slot. As it
reaches the
bottom most point of the slot, the rod exerts a force on the driven wheel. As the
driven wheel is pivoted from the
center, there will be a generation of a moment.

• This causes the generation of a torque which rotates the driving wheel. Hence
there is a fixed step circular motion.
• The mechanism used for conveyer belt is an external Geneva
mechanism.

• This mechanism gives out production of jerks or instantaneous change in acceleration.

Applications:

• Automobile plants and in there line up assembly

• Production of electronic components

• Packing of components

Advantages of using conveyor belt with Geneva mechanism:

• It is the simplest and least expensive of all intermittent motion mechanisms.

• The use of this mechanism in conveyor belt helps in saving excess energy.

• Helps in the controlling the speed of conveyor belt and making the production and handling comfortable
An Attitude towards an efficient reuse

Global researchers have by this time estimated that there will be over 12
billion plastic waste spanning the earth as a residue by 2050.

This is a whopping count that will have serious impact on the current as
well as the generations to come. So this were the essentiality of recycling
comes to action.

As an initiative to these many executive level programmes have been

adopted in almost all countries to locate and recycle their plastic
ejaculations successively. This had in turn produced a wide range of
recycled materials that even has luxurious value.

But the problem is still in the general level, where people even now have
no or less awareness on the range of products that these plastic can turn
out to be. It is only if that attitude changes that we could make the idea of
recycling effective to the core.
