ABSTRACT

 Sowing machine should be suitable to all farms, all types of crops, robust
construction, also it should be reliable, and this is basic requirement of sowing
machine. Thus we made sowing machine which is operated manually but reduces
the efforts of farmers thus increasing the efficiency of planting also reduces the
problem encountered in manual planting.
 For this machine we can plant different types and different sizes of seeds also we
can vary the space between two seeds while planting. This also increased the
planting efficiency and accuracy. We made it from raw materials thus it was so
cheap and very usable for small scale farmers.

 INTRODUCTION

 Sowing is a process of planting seeds into the soil. Sowing plays an important role in farming. Once, after
the soil is loosened and ploughed, the good, disease-free and pure quality of seeds are selected and sown
into the soil.  After selecting seeds of good quality, they are sown on the prepared land. The seeds, which
give high yields are usually selected.

 A perfect sowing gives :

1. Correct amount of seed per unit area
2. Correct depth of sowing
3. correct spacing between row – to – row and plant to plant
4. Correct seed rate
 METHODS OF SOWING

 Broadcasting: Random scattering of seeds over the surface of the field though hand.
 Dibbling: Dibbling is the process of placing seeds in holes made in seedbed and covering them. In this
method, seeds are placed in holes made at definite depth at fixed spacing.
 Drilling: In this method the seed is dropped into holes, the seeds are then covered and compacted by soil.
Drilling is done with the help of seed drill or seed-cum-fertilizer drill.
 Check row planting: accurate placing of single seeds at about equal interval in rows.A machine used for
check row planting is called as check row planter.
SEED SOWING MACHINE

 Seed sowing machine is used for placing the seeds in a continuous stream in furrows at
uniform rate and at controlled depth with an arrangement of covering the seeds with soil.

 Functions of seed sowing machine:-

1. To carry the seeds.

2. To open furrows at uniform depths.
3. To deposit the seeds in furrows in an acceptable pattern.
4. To cover the seeds and compact the soil around the seed.
5. To control the number of seeds dispensed by automatic planting.
MECHANISM OF SEED SOWING MACHINE
 Seed metering device meters the quantity of the seed which is going into the farm. It also
maintains the required level of the sand to plough. Mostly metering is necessary to track the
amount of seed also determine the when the seed tank is again filled. It gives the length or the
distance which can be sowed. Thus only required seed falls for every rotation of the wheel.

FABRICATION

In our project we are aimed to making Seed sowing machine at low cost applying our
engineering knowledge. In our project we have used mild steel material for structure
fabrication (mild steel square tubes, bearing, plough head and tyres ) .
Primarily a base structure is made with mild steel square tube attached as square
frame though welding . Then an round rod is taken and fixed with bearing as an axial
on the base structure . Then an plastic tyres are fixed to the axial on both ends
.Measurement is made for the plough head and the plough head is fixed on the
middle of the base structure.
