Definition
A poster is a temporary promotion. Of
an idea, product, or event up in a
public space for mass consumption.
 Posters include both textual and

graphic elements, although a poster


may be either wholly graphical or
wholly text.
Presenters use posters to entice audiences to:
1. Read about their work
2. Understand and remember the information
presented.

Design can help you


achieve both of these goals
A good poster attracts audiences with a
clear, uncluttered design that has a pop of
color.
 It has information presented in logical

order such that audiences can navigate


through the material easily.
 A good posters is not overloaded with text
 It contains only the most essential bits of

text & graphics needed to tell the story

5. Used color scheme
6. Used varied fonts to create visual
hierarchy
7. Use high quality images
Tips for creating posters
1. Use Sans Serif Fonts: Arial, Calibri,
Helvetica
2. Subheadings using 48-point font or larger
3. Use 30-36 point font for narrative text
4. Margin & space columns at a minimum

5. Avoid mixing low contrast colors. For
examples: yellow text against a white
background
