Lesson 1: Citizenship Training

(Good Citizenship Values)

Good Citizenship Values
Good citizenship is what occurs when one properly fulfills their role
as a citizen.
In a speech by former American president Theodore Roosevelt (1858 –
1919) he said, "The first requisite of a good citizen in this Republic of
ours is that he shall be able and willing to pull his own weight; that he
shall not be a mere passenger, but shall do his share in the work that
each generation of us finds ready to hand; and, furthermore, that in
doing his work he shall show, not only the capacity for sturdy self-help,
but also self-respecting regard for the rights of others."(Washington
Secretary of State)

Pagkamaka-Diyos
a. Faith in the Almighty
- Jesus said: “Have faith in God. Truly, I say to
you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be taken up
and thrown into the sea,' and does not doubt in his
heart, but believes that what he says will come to
pass, it will be done for him”
Mark 11:22–23

Just as the body is dead without breath, so also

faith is dead without good works.
James 2:26

b. Respect for life
So God created mankind in his own image, in the
image of God he created them; male and female he
created them.
Genesis 1:27
Do you not know that your body is a temple of the
Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God,
and that you are not your own? For you have been
bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your
body. https://cathstan.org/news/junior-saints/january- junior-saints-drawings

c. Concern for the Family and Future
Generations
From the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and
female’ and said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father
and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall
become one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let
no man separate.”
Matthew 19:4-7

a. Love
Love is patient and kind; love is not jealous or
boastful; Love is not ill mannered or selfish and
irritable; love does not keep a record of the wrongs;
love is not happy with evil but delights in the truth. Love
never gives up. Love never fails. Love is eternal…There
are faith, hope and love and the greatest of these is
Love.
1 Corinthians 13

Unity

If a  kingdom is divided against itself, that
kingdom cannot stand. And if a house is

divided against itself, that house will not
be
 able to stand

Respect for Law and Government
Let every person be subordinate to the higher
authorities, for there is no authority except from God, and
those that exist have been established by God. Therefore,
whoever resists authority opposes what God has appointed,
and those that oppose it will bring judgment upon
themselves. For rulers are not a cause of fear to good
conduct, but to evil.
Romans 13:1-3

Let them have dominion over the fish of
the sea, the birds of the air, and the cattle,
and over all the wild animals and all the
creatures that crawl on the ground.

Genesis 1:26
