kebahasaan teks interaksi transaksional lisan dan tulis yang
melibatkan tindakan memberi dan meminta informasi terkait
pengandaian diikuti perintah/saran, sesuai dengan konteks
penggunaanya. (perhatikan unsur kebahasaan if dengan
imperative, can, should).
TYPES OF CONDITIONAL SENTENCES

1. TYPE 0/ZERO
General Truth/ Habits

If Clause = If + Simple Present Main Clause = Simple present

Example:
- If my grandmother comes over, We usually go to park

2. TYPE 1
Possible conditions in the present and future

If Clause = If + Simple Present Main Clause = Simple future

Example:
- If my mom knows that I don’t study, My mom will punish me

- If you don’t go right now, you will be late


3. TYPE 2
Unreal situation

If Clause = If + Simple Past Main Clause = Present Conditional

Example:
- If I were you, I would go to that university

- If I were Rich, I would travel around the world

4. TYPE 3
Different situation in the past with the reality happening now

If Clause = If + Past Perfect Main Clause = Perfect Conditional

Example:
- If you had brought an umbrella, you wouldn’t have got wet

- If you had worked harder, you would have passed your exam

Example :

- If you don’t want to be late, You must go erlier

2. If clause + Suggestion
If clause = If = simple present Main Clause= Should/ought to/ had
better + simple present
Example:
- If you don’t want to get sick, You should take a break and get
some rest
- If you don’t want to get lose, You ought to be with me
- If if you don’t want your mom get You had better finish that homework
mad at you,
- If you want to improve your concentration, why don’t you study batik painting
3. If clause + Imperative

If clause = If + simple present Main clause = Verb 1 + object

Example:
- If you don’t want to be late, Get ready soon
- If you don’t want to get wet, Get the umbrella

4. If clause + General truth

If clause = If + simple present Main clause = Simple present/


simple future

Example:
- If you are 17 years old, you are allowed to have an id card
- If you don’t water flowers, they die/ they will die
- If you boil water, the water will evaporate.
5. If clause + Dream

If clause = simple present Main clause= Simple future

Example:
- If I have a lot of money, I will build a big house
- If I become a teacher, I will be agood teacher
- If you come to bali, I will meet you there
