HISTORY

At one time, it was believed that Jamshedji Tata


was inspired to build this hotel after he was refused
entry at Watson's Hotel, which was restricted to
'whites only.
DESIGN
• The 22-floor Taj Mahal Palace has a rich blend of
European and Islamic-style architecture.
• The hotel building has onion domes and a grand Working
pointed arch depicting 16th-century Islamic Timeline
architecture.
• The building has a central iconic red dome and
two wings topped with smaller domes.
• The Taj Mahal Palace hotel is built from
yellow basalt and reinforced concrete.
• The dome was constructed with imported
steel that was used for Eiffel Tower. INTERIOR
• The interiors of the hotel are designed in
Florentine, oriental and Moorish styles.
DESIGN
• The ceilings of the hotel are vaulted in
alabaster and onyx columns.
Terrorist Attack on The Taj Mahal Hotel

• On 26 November 2008 in a terrorist attacks in


Mumbai Taj Mahal Hotel was attacked too.
• At list 167 people were killed including many
foreigners
• When the terrorist attacked the hotel around 450
people were staying there.
• For repair of the hotel an estimate of 500 crore were
spend.
• Obama then quoted that “ the Taj has bee the
symbol of the strength and the resilience of the
Indian people
